Mission
Fly Fishers International (FFI) is dedicated, through education and conservation, to preserving the fly fishing experience. Conservation of our public waters and connected upland's is essential to our enjoyment, understanding and appreciation of fishes and their habitats and also the health of natural systems.
Lee Wulff, a fly fishing icon and one of the founders of Fly Fishers International once suggested "when you teach a person to fly fish you have just created a conservationist". Today FFI supports the community of fly fisher's worldwide and is dedicated to the promotion of the sport of fly fishing through education and conservation programs. Further:
FFI is the only organization to promote conservation of both salt and freshwater fisheries and their habitats.
FFI originated the concept of catch and release.
FFI is the only non-profit organization to develop a Fly Fishing Learning Center dedicated to expanding, through education, the enjoyment, appreciation and opportunities to fly fish.
FFI is the only non-profit organization with a comprehensive casting certification program.
FFI is the only non-profit organization with comprehensive fly tying curriculum and a Fly Tying Skills Award program.
